Welcome to 51+1

Welcome to 51+1 a blog for communicating how we can share God's joy here at home for the next 51 weeks and then, during week 52, on mission in Honduras.

Our theme for HON2011 came from testimonies given at the end of our trip to La Mora, Nicaragua last month. God spoke to us through the testimonies of team members and convicted our hearts that we are to always be on mission, not just the one week we are traveling to a foreign country but the other fifty-one as well.

The purpose statement, Reaching Out-Sharing Your Joy, also comes from our experience in La Mora. Throughout the week we met people that testified to being Christians, yet very few of them expressed the joy Christ brings. We are called to proclaim with the angels "JOY TO THE WORLD"! We do that by intentionally reaching out in practical ways (the things we do for others), with our testimonies (the things we say) and with our daily walk (the things other people see).

During the next 51 weeks we will be sharing information and details about how you can share the joy of your salvation. You will be able to read testimonies of how God has used team members in the past and how they continue to share joy as preparations are made for our trip to Honduras July 12-19, 2011.

We will also use this blog to list prayer needs and ministry needs. You will notice some items on both sides of this page. One is the called "Sharing Your Joy" and will provide a suggested action idea for sharing the joy of your salvation each week. On the right side you will notice a list of the Ministry Team Leaders that will be leading in the planning and implementation of the various ministries we will be providing for the people of Honduras. From time to time there will be lists from different ministry teams of needs they have.

As mentioned earlier we will be taking a team to Honduras next July, 51 weeks from today. Our desire is to take a group of 45 to 50 team members to share the joy of salvation to a village in Honduras. We will share this joy in practical ways by providing a medical clinic, dental clinic, optical clinic, veterinary corral, a pharmacy, children's activities, family portrait service, clothing and shoe distribution and evangelistic related ministries. Meeting real physical needs are important in themselves, but more importantly, meeting physical needs allows us the opportunity to share the Gospel and the joy of God's salvation.

The background picture at the top is the Village of La Mora, Nicaragua. It was taken from the top of a mountain above the village.

Be sure to share this blog with your friends and continue to pray as God continues to build our team and prepare our hearts.
